From viewer Rob Galliah, his note:".. an interesting photo of my father
(Louis Galliah) center of the photo, third from the right. When this photo was taken, he
was on his way over England, with the Canadian Guards 2nd Battalion unboard the S.S Queen
Fredericka.
Note the rope tension snares in the background.Also the pipes that were issued are
Hendersons with Ivory mounts, with a African blackwood Hardie chanters with Ivory sole.I
can't imagine the degree of difficulty setting the chanters back then. My fathers pipe
major back in 1956 when this photo was taken was Archie Cairns."
