Why this photo?
Thanks to Willie McCallum for these. He sent them to me on November 13th:
"Today is the anniversary of the end of the battle of the Somme and 'The Taking of Beaumont Hamel', 13th Nov 1916..
I took these photos at Beaumont Hamel whilst on holiday in July and thought you might consider one of them appropriate.
The Caribou is the memorial to the Newfoundland Regiment, the white cross the memorial to the 8th Argylls and the statue of a highlander is the 51st Division memorial.
The whole site is a Canadian memorial."
