"The City of St. John's Pipe Band made the trip of a lifetime May 2 to 10 2004. Nineteen band members and three "guests" made the journey to the north of France where we based ourselves in Arras. Our schedule took in the five Caribou Memorials honouring Newfoundland's contribution to the First World War - Beaumont Hamel, Guedecort, Masnières and Monchy le Preux in France, and Cortrai (Kortijk) in Belgium. We also visited the Canadian Memorial at Vimy Ridge, the Piper's Monument at Longueval, and the Menin Gate in Ieper, Belgium."
